Ulleungdo Juniper Brooch Collection

This brooch collection is inspired by the ancient juniper trees of Ulleungdo, a volcanic island in the East Sea of Korea. Each piece is handmade from ceramic clay, so every brooch has its own shape and texture.

Ottchil, traditional Korean natural lacquer, is part of the finishing process. The dark lacquer deepens the texture of the ceramic and recalls the weathered bark of old junipers, while the gold details symbolize new life emerging from an old tree.

For me, the juniper represents resilience, time and life.
